How to Use Free Wi-Fi on the Guangzhou Metro
With the opening of Metro Line 7 and two notable line extensions, Guangzhou Metro (MTRC) finally launched its long-awaited free Wi-Fi service. Naturally, we couldn’t wait to hop on the next train and give the new wireless internet a try, sadly we concluded that it is extraordinarily difficult to connect to Wi-Fi while on a moving train (for now anyway) – although the service seems to work fine while on the waiting platforms.
The free Wi-Fi is currently available on all Guangzhou Metro lines, with the exception of the Guangfo Line – which connects Canton to Foshan.
To access the free metro’s Wi-Fi service, follow these easy steps:
1. Installed the 花生地铁WiFi app on your phone.
2. Choose and connect to “花生地铁WiFi测试” in your phone’s network list.
3. Click on “打开APP” (Open App).
4. After you’re directed to the app, login with your phone number (click “获取验证码” to get a verification code) and click the big yellow button to surf the internet.
5. Enjoy free Wi-Fi.
