Springtime in Beijing is pretty much all about flowers. The city is in full bloom, which means that this is the prime time to take a trip to one of Beijing’s many flower markets. It’s possible to find all sorts of cut flowers, air purifying house plants, orchids, rare plants and more at these places. On the prowl for some colorful tulips? Well, Yuquanying Flower Market is a great place to buy them. Yuquanying is one of the oldest and largest flower markets in Beijing. In addition to tulips, they also have an exellent selection of other flowers and houseplants. The market also has a selection of pottery, tea sets, paintings, furniture and more.

Located just outside of the North Fifth Ring Road, this market is a bit on the small side, but it has a respectable selection of flowers, houseplants and trees. They also have cheap red roses for around RMB2.

Located at Beijing’s Agricultural University, this place has much more than just flowers. Actually animals are featured prominently at the market, including fish, turtles and more. In addition to flowers there are tons of plants and bonsais.

Located in Haidian the Tongsha Flower Market is a super popular market to buy flowers. But they also have tons of plants that are great for purifying indoor air.

Thankfully this market is located near the Third Ring Road, making it a convenient place to shop. Vendors sell a wide selection of flowers and potted plants – and the prices are incredibly fair. You can also arrange delivery (to some locations) for RMB10-30.

This place is enormous. And it’s definitely the place to go for flowers, orchids, bonsai trees, cacti and more. This massive indoor market also has a great selection of herbs. In case you don’t get your fill of flowers here, the Liangma Flower Market (see above) is located nearby.

Located in the south of the city, this flower market is one of the largest in the city. It’s over 6,000 square meters so obviously it has a huge variety. They also have a wonderful selection of Dutch tulips and flowers from Yunnan.
