You, dear reader, could not have possibly forgotten that Father's Day is June 18. While most of us in Shenzhen will be resorting to Skype calls and WeChat voice messages, the select, lucky few will be able to spend the day with pop. Or conversely, having a great time with their kids. So what family-friendly activities are there in Shenzhen?
Eat and Drink
McCawley's Irish Bar
The perennial favorite of businessmen stopping in the city – and anyone who enjoys quality alcohol and solid eats.

The Perch
Describing itself as both 'glamorous' and 'exciting,' The Langham Shenzhen's newest bar has proven a draw with its kooky-meets-quality mix of food and drink. That, and the 5pm to 11pm two-for-one deal on select drinks until September 8.
Taste Moment
If you're ready to splash out a bit to celebrate the day with Dad, Taste Moment has some of Shenzhen's finest French dining according to our recent review. The five-course Father's Day meal features wild salmon salad, mushroom soup with truffle and a choice of imported beef tenderloin or roasted halibut. Included in the deal is a bottle of red or white wine. In total, it's RMB888 for two plus a 10 percent service fee.
Go-Karting
Xtreme Speedway
Located in Bao'an District, this track is likely the best in Shenzhen and very well maintained. Home to serious hobbyists, karts include 80cc and 100cc models. RMB180 buys you ten minutes of drive time.

Futian Circuit
A bit of a hidden gem, what this Honey Lake track may lack in size, it makes up for with its convenient location. High powered F1 karts cost RMB150 for 15 minutes. Beginners may want to get started with the cheaper normal karts, at RMB60 for the same amount of time.

Climb Something
Xiantong Climbing Club
Reputedly the largest climbing locale in Guangdong Province, Xiantong offers both wall climbing and rock climbing excursions, including a 15-meter ascent (classified as difficult) and six 4-meter bouldering options that meet international standards, as well as a 13-meter speed route.

Bosheng Climbing Club
Close to Shekou Wal-Mart, Bosheng is probably one of the most convenient climbing clubs in town. Six routes – three difficult and three speed – are complemented by a bouldering wall.
