Azul is serving a New Year’s Eve menu for RMB288 per person, minimum of two people to share. Starters include roasted pumpkin polenta with saffron and serrano, watermelon radish salpicon and tequila-cured salmon with black bean salsa. Mains include Argentinian Hereford rib-eye steak, lamb skewers with sides, baked halibut and sides of roasted broccoli and Brussels sprouts. The meal ends with desserts to share.

Suit up in gold and ring in the new year with Shanghai's trendiest partygoers at Bar Rouge Shanghai. The unforgettable night of upbeat vibes will be powered by resident DJs: Keint, Antyflex and Doggy. Make sure you sparkle and take your rightful place among the glitterati at one of the Bund's most glamourous events. Just make sure to show up before 10.30pm to avoid pedestrian traffic regulations – you'll want to experience the NYE countdown while overlooking the skyline.

Party it up at Big Bamboo Jinqiao with live music by Mark or head over to Big Bamboo Hongqiao for live music plus special guest DJ. Entry is free at the former, while the latter has an RMB120 ticket that includes two drinks. In either case, you get a free sparking wine at midnight to ring in the new year.

The 2020 Bash at The Blind Pig has music by DJ Finewire and free-flow drinks until midnight. If you book with a group of 10 or more, you get a bottle of champagne to split. If you don't have a group of that size, never fear, they'll pass around glasses of sparkling come midnight.

We all know its impossible to get cabs on NYE, so if you live in the vicinity of Hengshan Lu, Bohemia is a good option. New Year's dinner sets are RMB598 for two people. Fill your belly with salmon tartar, chicken soup, duck rolls, hot raspberry cake and other delicious options. Two drinks of your choice (house wine, Prosecco, mulled wine, soft drinks or juice) are also included. Party packages start at RMB1,588.

Boxing Cat has two great parties going on this New Year's Eve. If you choose Xintiandi, you'll get a glitzy event with live band, set menus (think lobster mac and cheese plus steak and Champagne) and a countdown to remember. It’s New Year’s Eve at Kerry Hotel Pudong, Shanghai! Dress up in your best silver outfit, and get ready to welcome a fantastic 2020. Wonky Kong steps up armed with a battalion of groovers, shakers and expert party starters including veteran bass ambassador DJ Siesta, Blanca, Resinate and MC Rvee on mic duty. Sneak in one last dance at their iconic Xingfu Lu venue to the beat of the year's best UK dance tracks as the clock strikes twelve.
