Sure, plague is still a thing in China, but on the other side of the coin, the country’s healthcare industry is rapidly integrating advanced technology in order to make hospitals less crowded, surgeries more precise and secure and, according to a recent report by Inkstone, to diagnose genetic disorders in newborns.

The Shanghai Children’s Medical Center and the Shanghai Pediatric Center have stated that a newly developed tool has been accurate in diagnosing 100 different kinds of disorders identifiable by specific facial features such as Down syndrome, Cornelia de Lange syndrome and others.

China’s healthcare industry has been rapidly advancing as it seeks to integrate new technologies like 5G and AI. It’s all part of a plan by the government to advance the state of healthcare in the country, with hospitals and health officials focusing their efforts on big data storage, rapid networks, robotic surgery and more.

The application of AI in hospitals around China is in the very early stages, with many companies currently working on research and development. However, a number of companies have reported successes, such as AskBob, a Ping An Insurance-backed tool, which can provide accurate treatment recommendations for more than 1,500 diseases.
